Throughout the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, education and training is given top priority. Continuous professional development is not only regarded as a way of preparing our company to the future. It is also seen as a means of unfolding the talent of the individual employee.
Continued investment in education and training is a prerequisite for tackling the challenges of the future successfully.
Throughout the years, A.P. Moller - Maersk has implemented and renewed a comprehensive education system to meet the special demands of a large international organisation.
Various education programmes are offered that involves training in areas such as:
- Training of personal skills, e.g. presentation techniques and sales techniques, assertion training, negotiation techniques, and systematic problem treatment.
- IT knowledge, including Office programmes, Internet, “PC licence”, and graphic applications.
- Language training at different levels as well as special intensive courses for employees who are about to be expatriated.
- Courses in economics and maritime law.
- Education aimed at solving future management tasks. These courses can take place in Denmark and abroad. A smaller number of managers are offered management programmes at internationally recognised universities and schools in Europe and USA.
Furthermore, we carry through course activities that concentrate on the specific work areas of the individual departments or companies.
Some parts of the supplementary education take the shape of special company courses in our own education facilities. Other parts take the shape of employee participation in open courses at leading domestic and foreign education institutions.
In order to know the future goals of the employees, and evaluate the individual’s performance and potential, appraisal interviews are carried through once a year. In these interviews, issues such as education and development are addressed.
Provided supplementary education is considered relevant for the present or future position in the company, Maersk FPSOs will refund expenses to books and tuition.
