floating production

Maersk FPSOs leases and operates mobile oil and gas production units to oil companies around the world. We develop, build, install and operate systems that match the precise needs of each field, in order to reduce investment costs for our customers before commercial production begins. We offer a range of tailor-made concepts, within tanker or jack-up based units for production of oil and gas.

HIGH PERFORMANCE IN HARSH ENVIRONMENTS
We operate purpose-built, technologically advanced, harsh environment floating production storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs). With an uptime at the top end of industry performance rates and a storage capacity of 615,000 bbls, our FPSOs exploit fields profitably – also in harsh environments. Two of our FPSOs are purpose-built for the North Sea and have been operating there since 1997. The MAERSK CURLEW can produce 45,000 bbls of oil and export 110 mmscf of gas daily, while the NORTH SEA PRODUCER can produce 76,000 bbls of oil and export 30 mmscf of gas a day.

Also included in the fleet is a combined drilling and production unit. Placed on the world’s largest and most advanced harsh environment jack-up rig, the MÆRSK INSPIRER, it is capable of producing 56,000 bbls of oil and 53 mmscf of gas per day.

BUILDING VESSELS TO MEET CUSTOMER DEMANDS
We work closely with customers to build solutions and vessels for specific fields and environments. For example, we assisted Marathon Petroleum in Norway in converting the tanker ODIN into the ALVHEIM FPSO, and we are now operating the unit. Also, in 2008 the latest addition to the fleet, MAERSK NGUJIMA-YIN, commenced operations in Australia. This state-of the-art vessel was designed and constructed under contract with Woodside, Australia, and has a production capacity of 120,000 bbls of oil and 100 mmscf of gas per day. The storage capacity of the MAERSK NGUJIMA-YIN is 1.2 million barrels of oil.

EXPLOITING ASSOCIATED GAS
The efficient exploitation of associated gas is a key factor in many offshore fields. With innovative gas handling systems, such as the turret-moored LPG storage ship NKOSSA II operating off the coast of Congo since 1996, we help customers achieve higher efficiency while taking care of the environment.
