In Maersk FPSOs our goal is Zero Accidents! It is a bold and ambitious goal which ensures constant attention to the safety of our staff and of our equipment.
Safety and efficiency
In Maersk FPSOs we firmly believe that safety leads to better quality, better efficiency and better results. Safety is a top priority and we are committed to provide and maintain a safe workplace for our employees and our obligation to deliver safe and efficient operations to our clients – in other words we keep a constant focus on improving safety in every detail of the Organisation.
A strong safety culture
Safety is deeply embedded in all parts of the Maersk FPSOs organisation from top management to floor personnel. We recognize safety as a human qualification supported by personal responsibility. All employees are expected to work safe, intervene whenever spotting unsafe behaviour and duly report hazardous situations or incidents. To enable every employee to meet these demands, we continuously work on strengthening our safety culture and our safety performance through education, communication, and evaluation of our operations.
Our safety strategy
Besides our business strategy we have an extensive safety strategy based on latest knowledge and technology, new legislation, and reviews of our recent offshore performances. Among the leading measures we have a formal system for hazard identification and risk assessment. We currently analyze and keep records of accidents, and share lessons learned and we thoroughly investigate reported incidents that could lead to an LTI. This reinforces our proactive ability to motivate, educate, and equip our personnel and to ensure ongoing improvement.
Outstanding safety performance Over the past 20 years we have considerately lowered the LTI frequency to far below the accident frequency in similar onshore industry. We will continuously strive to reach our goal of zero accidents by constantly identifying new areas of concern and improving our safety level.

- Daily safety meetings on all units
- Frequent and varied emergency drills
- Skill and qualification refresher courses
- Training upon introduction of new equipment and technology
- Induction courses for newly recruited personnel
- Easily identifiable new employees on board (separate colour hardhat)
- Semi-annual safety meeting for all local Maersk FPSOs Safety Managers
